[Ukraine]Peace Winds provide cash assistance to 900 Ukrainian people in Zaporizhia
About 80 % of Zaporizhia Oblast located in southeast of Ukraine is still under control of Russian Forces. Many people had to evacuate from the occupied area, while others continued to live in various hardships under the occupation. In total, about one million people in this area are in need of assistance. In order to support those who are most vulnerable and in need of help, Peace Winds, in cooperation with our Ukrainian partner Right to Protection (R2P), provides cash assistance to the internally displaced people (IDP) and to those who live in areas where combat continues.
We provide 3,600 Ukrainian hryvnia per person per month for three months to the most vulnerable people based on criteria such as a household with more than three children, a person with disabilities or elderly, single-parent family among others. This is a multi-purpose cash assistance meaning the recipient can choose how to spend on things like groceries, consumables, medicine, house rent or others depending on their urgent needs.
Prior to the cash delivery, we asked the selected recipients to come for registration of their personal information at designated locations. For those who find it hard to come to these locations, the R2P team visited their homes to have proper registration. These registrations were often interrupted by frequent air raids alerts. We completed the registration process by the end of July and plan to complete the delivery of cash by the end of August.
This project has been supported by the donation from individual and corporate supporters and the grant from Japan Platform. We ask for your continuous support. Thank you.
