[USA] The Emergency Relief Team has arrived at the scene of the Los Angeles Wildfire and has begun its operations.

An emergency relief team, including Peace Winds coordinators and nurses from the Flying Search and Rescue Medical Team, arrived in Los Angeles on January 11th (Japan time) to begin their assessment for support activities.

A Japanese team has arrived in Los Angeles and is now assessing the support needs.

The team is continuing their assessment by touring the affected areas, visiting shelters, and observing locations where local volunteers are distributing relief supplies.

According to a press conference held by the City of Los Angeles, more than 12,000 buildings (including vehicles) have been damaged or destroyed, and 153,000 residents have been ordered to evacuate. The fires have affected a total of 37,544 acres (152 square kilometers, equivalent to 3,250 Tokyo Domes). Additionally, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has confirmed that the death toll from the wildfire has increased to 16 as of 12:00 PM on January 12.

The team will soon join forces with staff from our sister organization, Peace Winds America, to deliver necessary support on the ground.
